Wool Yarn

Years ago, it was common to find locally spun wool made by Kenyan artisans. Our constant mission is to find local craftspeople who share our passion for the natural fiber arts, as well as those determined to reinvigorate this important trade. We believe that handmade goods add a much-needed spark of joy and value to life.

Our Rift Valley Yarn is our flagship product, and we spent months researching and connecting with farmers and spinners to create this unique yarn. Our wool is seasonally sheared from sheep raised in the Rift Valley, as well as private farms on the foothills of Mount Kenya. Brought by the bale to Nairobi, a cooperative of women do the admirable work of hand carding, spinning and dyeing the wool. We are proud to bring this product to your home, a result of many hardworking farmers and artisans.

Since this is a natural, handmade product the selection of colors and weight will vary. Chunky is approx. 100gms/50mtrs and Aran is approx. 100grams/100mtrs. Please contact us directly if you have a specific project in mind, and we can recommend yarn based on our current inventory.

Care: wash knits in cold water and lay flat to dry. Protect your natural wool from moths and insects by adding a few drops of lavender or leleshwa essential oil. Click here for more information on the standard yarn weights and recommendations.
